Letterpress Printing is the oldest form of printing in which a raised reversed surface (image and type) is inked and then directly transferred onto the desired paper. Johannes Gutenberg is credited with the invention of the printing press and movable metal type.
Modernization allowed for type to be set mechanically in full lines and eventually complete pages. Though anything can be printed using letterpress, modern letterpress printing has become a rare form.
It is mostly used in applications where fine art and elegance are desired…such as elite business cards, wedding packages or special event invitations.
